HISTORY
Auriculotherapy (also ear reflexology, auricular therapy, ear acupuncture, and auriculo-acupuncture) is a complementary medicine method based on the theory that the ear is a micro system reflecting the whole body. In this method, conditions affecting the patient's physical, mental or emotional wellbeing are being addressed by the stimulation of the surface of the ear.
Auriculotherapy was proposed in the “Treatise of Auriculotherapy” (1957), by the neurologist Paul Nogier. Following success in treating patients with various health conditions, further development of the method was backed by clinical trials, based on a phrenological method of projection of a fetal Homunculus onto the ear.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Practically, auriculotherapy is stimulation of the auricle of the external ear by the insertion of acupuncture needles, or/ and manual pressure, magnets or ear pellets. This treatment is often combined with general acupuncture, massage, heat therapy, cupping, reflexology, and qualified nutritional/ lifestyle advice.

"Alejandro is a capable and competent acupuncturist with a pleasing manner who confidently identifies the problem and then gently sets about helping the issue with many different skills and techniques. I particularly found the Tuina (Chinese massage) and ‘cupping’ to be most excellent. Acupuncture doesn’t sound for everybody but Alejandro makes it a joy to be pricked with needles in your ears, feet, and wherever necessary. If you don’t think sticking needles into you does anything then think again! Like sleep, you know when you’ve had some acupuncture! I would thoroughly recommend his practices and am yet to find a better practitioner using so many differing techniques. Great chap and am happy to recommend him"
